In the wake of  New York’s  recent tour bus crash’s returning to New York lawmakers have called for stricter regulations on the tour bus industry.

A device that was designed to protect women who are receiving radiation therapy to treat breast cancer was recalled this week by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), after the agency had already approved the device, called the Axxent FlexiShield Mini.

Thirty women with breast cancer who participated in a study were left with hundreds of tiny heavy metal tungsten particles in their breasts and chest muscles that came from the device during surgery.

The medical world is still reeling from the news that the 6,000,000-plus women who took hormone replacement therapy drugs like estrogen over a long period of time are at increased risk of developing breast cancer.

One way doctors have been combating this risk factor is by prescribing the drug Tamoxifen, which reduces a woman’s chances of contracting breast cancer, the second most common form of cancer in women.
