Construction worker receives $840,000 award at mediation
Howard Raphaelson and Andrew Levine serve justice again this week in a case for a 50 year old construction worker.
Our client was using a ladder in order to perform alterations to a ceiling and pipe in the kitchen of a NYC restaurant. He was severely injured when the improperly secured and unsafe ladder failed, causing the worker to fall approximately 10 feet and sustain severe fractures to the bottom of both of his legs. Because of the dangerous nature of working at heights, the New York Labor law, which protects construction workers, mandates that Owners and General Contractors have an absolute liability to safeguard workers on ladders and scaffolds.
Steve Gershowitz just won big for a client.
This case involves reckless police conduct followed by prosecutorial misconduct. Howard Raphaelson said this was a classic example of government abuse at the expense of a good man. “The Police and the District Attorney perverted the justice system, and fortunately we were able to restore justice and save this good man’s name”
