Crane Accident Update

The crane collapsed around 230 pm on wednesday as it was lifting a load during the construction of new residential towers in Long Island City.

The crane moved quickly and crashed to the ground injuring several workers. The owner of the crane company is not new to crane collapses. In fact the owner was involved in a criminal trial as a result of a prior crane collapse that killed two workers. The prior crane collapse occurred on the East Side of New York.

All cranes in New York are supposed to be regulated, inspected and approved by the department of buildings. If this company can not keep there cranes standing then the City of New York should prohibit them from erecting their cranes at construction sites.
