Raphaelson Law Firm at the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center Dedication
Last fall, Howard Raphaelson was honored to join several relatives in the dedication ceremony for the opening of the new Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. The ceremony included remarks from United States Senator Charles Schumer and Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy as well as other respected speakers. The new building for this law school is located adjacent to the Suffolk County Supreme Courts, Civil Courts and Criminal Courts and is also adjacent to the Alfonse D'Amato United States Courthouse. This proximity to the courts is unprecedented in the United States and allows students to become immersed in the law based on practical experience and first-hand observation. The location is a catalyst for bringing judges, lawyers and law students together combining the classroom and the courtroom.
Howard Raphaelson felt especially privileged to be part of this dedication which honored Judge Jacob Fuchsberg, Mr. Raphaelson’s grandfather. The Law Center is named in honor of the contributions to the study and practice of law of the late Jacob D. Fuchsberg, a towering figure in the law who served as a Judge on the New York State Court of Appeals. Judge Fuchsberg was a true pioneer in the emergence of personal injury compensation in the United States and won the country's first million dollar personal injury verdict.
