A New England Journal study on the drug Avandia has revealed the possibility of serious health implications for diabetic patients. Avandia is widely prescribed in the United States to diabetics.

The study, which involved a total of 15,560 patients who took the drug, revealed that patients taking Avandia were 43 percent more likely to have a heart attack than study members who took the placebo.
