Pedestrians with Right of Way find new protection in New York City

Home / Blog / Pedestrians with Right of Way find new protection in New York City

We applaud Mayer De Blasio who recently enacted his right of way law. This law will allow responding police officers to issue violations and even arrest motorists who crash into pedestrians in the crosswalk with the right of way. While previously a traffic violation, officers were hesitant to issue violations and certainly would not arrest a motorist absent extreme circumstances. This new law shows New Yorkers that the city is serious about protecting innocent pedestrians. We applaud this safety measure and are certain it will serve to reduce pedestrian injuries throughout NYC.
